After an initial meeting with staff at the Plume Academy to discuss the possibility of a 'community group' helping to organise the school's archives, the Academy has contacted the Blackwater with a plan of action.
Retired members of the Plume staff are very keen to be involved with the work and have produced the following schedule.
- Stage 1 - Basic sorting of everything into containers.
- Stage 2 - Cataloguing of the items. Two retired Plume librarians and Erica Wiley from the Thomas Plume Library will support this stage alongside members of the U3A.
- Stage 3 - Setting up an area to display and store the articles.
This is a project that many people have shown an interest in. The long term thought is that all these records and old photographs will be displayed and stored in a dedicated area in the oldest part of the school building as a resource for students and visitors.
Thank you to those who have already offered to help woith this project but it would seem that the starting date could be in the summer holidays, so I will be in touch with you all again as soon as I hear anything further.
