Throughout each month, there is a lively programme of meetings, activities and visits run by over thirty different interest groups, including some that are shared with other local U3As. Their meetings are held in local halls or members’ houses and are self-organising and self-funding. They allow members to enjoy a leisure activity, develop a practical skill, participate in a sport or learn more about a specific subject in the good company of other members. To help the interest group leaders, we have occasional meetings to exchange ideas and information about successes and the occasional failures!
With some groups being full to capacity, its always worth thinking about starting a new interest group? New groups can be formed on any subject by a member who is willing to organise the group. It could be another luncheon club, a language group or an entirely new subject.
You don’t need to be an expert, so anyone can start a group. Just mention your idea to the Interest Group Coordinator, talk to other members, put out a signing-up sheet at the monthly meeting and see what happens.

Please Remember: It is a fundamental aim of the U3A movement that members will share some of the skills learnt over their earlier working life.
