Meetings: 4th Tuesday of the Month at 2.00 pm unless a visit is planned.
Venue: West Maldon Community Centre in the Jubilee Lounge.
Visits: These occur usually but not always on the 4th Tuesday. They are dependent on various exhibitions and galleries and sometimes combined with the History Group. Visits are usually by car share or train to London occasionally, or by coach if combined with History.
Cost: £2-3 for meetings in West Maldon Community Centre. Visit costs depend on entrance fees and distance for car share.
Signing-up sheets: These are in the Linton Room at monthly meetings or phone Dennis.
Meetings at West Maldon Community Centre tend to be from September through to March. In these meetings, one of us shows a visual presentation on an artist/sculptor or group of artists, or style of art. These have been European or Asian. We have also had talks on furniture and had afternoons of the ‘Antique Road Show’ where we bring all sorts of items from home to discuss. During the spring and summer months, we pay visits to galleries and museums both local and in Essex, Suffolk and London. We join with the History group for visits to well known houses or exhibitions.
We do not have an external tutor, in the true spirit of the U3A, we are a self-learning group where everyone can have a say, and everyone is welcome. You don’t have to come to every event. If you want to paint or draw, the Art Group is more appropriate.
