The Transport group arranges talks, discussions and visits relating to all forms of transport and its associated infrastructure from back in the mists of time to the present day.

Some of the topics we have covered include the infrastructure for the Olympics at Stratford, road building and gas buses, use of the internet for research into timetables (journey planning), ship and aircraft movement, wrecks, WW1/WW2 submarine activity, airship activity over Essex in WW1, airline history and shipping line history.

Most of the talks are presented by members of the group, in line with the ethos of the U3A movement – Learning from each other.

If anybody has any thoughts about future topics that could be included in the programme please contact one of the co-ordinators.
